  1. My mother taught me the following prayer after going to bed: --
“God bless me and save me from fire and water sin and shame.
    God’s hand upon my head.
    God’s robes about me.
God’s Son be at my side and
    God be before me.
“There are four corners on my bed.”
There are four angels at my head,
    Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
God bless the bed that I lay on.”
As I lie on my bed to sleep I give my soul to God to keep
awaken now or awaken never I give my soul to God for ever.
