    His spirits still were gay
    He sang a sweeter song therein

    he hoped and longed to meet his friends
    And comrades one and all
    And breath once more
    Old freedom’s breath
    In dead Old Donegal.

    No doubt he’d be aquitted
    Had justice got its due
    I hope its [sic] better as it is
    With a Laurel honest brow
    The blighting blast of tyranny
    Can never reach him now.
