The Obelisk on Killiney Hill
512 feet above sea level stands the Obelisk on Killiney Hill. New as it may seem it is ancient and historical.
On the same grounds the five daughters of Leínín built an oratory, which can be proved by the ancient name of Killiney which is Cill Ingean Leínín and by the holy shrine near the Obelisk.
The obelisk was built by John Mapas 1742. Inscribed on the Obelisk is:-
