  1. Stradbally Parish is under the patronage of the Holy Cross and on the Pattern Day 14th Sept. the fair was held. It was called "Aonach na Croise Naomhtha".
    The fair was held in a field near the cove called "The Fair Inch" an was a day of merry making for the country folk. Nearly 40 tents were erected and the day ended up with music and song and dance.
    The religious part of the festival consisted of High Mass in the Parish Church - a special sermon was preached and most of the congregation went to Holy Communion.
    The fair was boycotted because a Mr Dormor - who was not liked by the people -
