  1. Schools were often held in houses in this district. there was a hedge schol in a house in the Glen Farm.
    They were only taught reading writing and spelling. They did not remain long at the houses only about a week at a time.
    Instead of money fro payment they got butter potatoes or many other things they could eat.
    The children brought sods of turf to the teacher for the fire as they were very poor.
