    wake as they used to say the fairies would bring them.
    When a person was dying in olden times he selected the men to make his grave. Those wishes are always carried and are looked upon as sacred wishes. Long ago the people believed that if those wishes were not exactly carried out as the person wished they would not be at rest but would come round the house at night after death.
    Long ago if the boys were not allowed to slap at wakes none of them would go to the funeral the next day.
