    Eve. Some the games are ducking for apples and snap apple. When ducking they put an apple in a big tub of water and one by one each person puts down her head in the tub and they try to catch the apple in her mouth. Another played is by hanging an apple out of the roof of the house and trying to take a bite out of it with the teeth.

    On November Night all the young boys go to the shop for ducking. When they come they put an apple into a tub of water and they go ducking for the apple. They also tie an apple on to a string and tie the string on to the rafter of the house. Then they swinging the string round and try to get a bite of the apple in their mouths. They have great fun in catching the apple to get a bit of it in their mouths.

    On Novembers night all the youngsters of the village gather together in one house and they start playing games.
    The games they play are “Blind Man’s Buff and ducking for apples. At about eight o clock they bring in a tub and half fill it with water and start ducking for apples.     This is another trick which is very amusing. It is played with melted lead, this being put through a key into cold water to see what shape it will take. For instance if it takes the shape of a scissors the girl of boy will be a tailor or a dressmaker, or if it takes the shape of a last, you will be a shoemaker.
    "Snap apple" and "ducking" for apples are the two most popular games played by the children. "Snap apple" is played in the following way. An apple is tied on a long string and suspended from the ceiling, the string being about half a foot about the child's head. Then everyone tries to get the apple, and whoever catches it in their mouth will be rewarded by keeping the apple. "Ducking" for apples is played by getting a large tub of water and placing an apple in it. Each boy bends down and tries to get the apple in his mouth.

    Castle-field:
    In the townsland of Cadamstown there is a field called the Castle field. A long time ago the O’Carroll’s had a castle there, but the castle has fallen, and ever since the field is called the Castle-field.
    The Ducking stool field:
    There is a field in Ballingcarrig called the Ducking stool field/ There is a well in this field and any old woman who would be looking for too much news, she would be brought down and ducked in it and so it was called the Ducking stool field.

    people make a bonfire out in the roadside and put a bone into it. Long ago the boys used to milk other peoples cows and then buy a loaf and boil it in the milk and eat it. St Martin's Day is next. It is on the 9th of November. The people kill chickens on that day in honour of St. Martin. The children go "ducking" for Apples on the 1st of November.
