442 When he was working in Ballykilty it was his special job to mind the lambs at the "gaining" time.Foxes were then very numerous in Ballykilty wood ,and did so much havoc amongst the lambs ,that Martin had to stay up all night minding them.To keep off the foxes they also hung bells to the sheep's neck.Now the ewes were always gathered for the night in a large hill behind the house.In the field was a large sheep crib ,a kind of rectangular box and a mavable roof where the hay could be put in.Now this night Martin was minding the lambs as usual it was an extremely cold night ,so he said to himself that he would take shelter in the crib .So moving back the roof he went into theAnaithnid
