Long long ago there lived a woman. She had one son and his name was Jack. They were very poor and they had no money to pay the rent. The mother sent Jack to sell one of the cows. "Take nothing less than twenty pounds" she said. Going along the wood at the corner he met a man. "How much do you want for your cow?" asked the man. "I want twenty pounds" answered Jack. "Take this tablecloth" said the man. "I will not take anything less than twenty pounds" said Jack. "Take it" said the man "for whenever you spread it on the table and tell it to do its duty you can have anything you wish for". Again Jack refused. "Take it in your hands and look at it" said the man. But whenever Jack took it in his hands the man hit the cow and disappeared. Jack went home crying "What id you get for the cow?" his mother asked. "I got this tablecloth" said Jack telling the story from beginning to end. He then set the tablecloth on the table and saying "Do your Duty."Aine Sheehan
