Many years ago there lived in County Cavan a young man who was very fond of card-playing. I do not know in what part of the county he lived. It is said he often went miles from his home to Gamble. At length he became very poor. Then he heard that if he went to America he would win many prizes in card-playing tests. He sold his farm and bought his passage to America. He set out from County Cavan and went by train to Belfast. He landed in Belfast at about six o'clock on a winter's morning and snow was falling heavily.
