A Spade: A spade is sometimes called "The Farmer's Coat of Arms" is very useful in the farmyard, and on the farm. It is used for digging up clay and sods with which to make a ditch, or for digging holes in the ground in which to bury animals. It is made up of a handle and a blade. The handle which is made of ash, is about four feet long. The blade is made of steel and it is about a foot long and a half foot wide. A Shovel :Philomena Murphy
