opening is to be found somewhere at a house now owned by Dan Kenny. This was the site of the college or school of learning attached to the monastery in olden times until it was completely destroyed by Queen Elizabeth's soldiers. The graveyard adjoins the old Abbey, a beautiful ancient place. Traces can be seen on the walls of the Turret of the Abbey of the defence the monks put up when they tried to save their Sacred vessels from the English soldiers. The siege lasted for three days although the monks were outnumbered, at last they gave way when the walls were burning around them. Tashinny graveyard is in the centre of the village.
