During this time there lived in Mullagha House in this parish a genourous kind hearted Protestant gentleman named Mr Morris. He had great pity for the poor people who were starving. He bought in a large supply of Indian meal and stored it in his ganaries . This he ground into meal in his own water mill in his yard remains still there and he had it made into porridge for the poor. He even supplied spoons to them to eat with. He planted acres of potatoes also to help to prolong the supply of meal. then he gave meals of potatoes, meal and calceanann on alternate days.
