and he was about to run in and tell his neighbours that his "darlin' horse" was stolen when the sound of hoofs reached his ear. A moment later the horse galloped into the yard after coming from the direction of Robertstown Moat. He was covered with foam. The next night Willie went out as usual and an amazing sight met his eyes. A beautiful woman draped in white was rapidly untying the white horse in the stable. Silently, she led him out and before Willie knew what was happening she had mounted the animal and was galloping across the fields in the direction of the old moat. But Willie wasn't long until had pulled himself together and mounted his other black horse, and set off in pursuit of the strange lady, whom he could see galloping at a terrible speed across a large field. And then an astonishing sight met his eyes. Across the field with bells tinkling and bugles blowing came a whole band of little red men all mounted on tiny horses. They all folowed the white lady and then a strange thing happened. One side of the moat fell away completely revealing a mighty hole or opening and the whole lot galloped in. Immediately the moat closed in again. Petrified, Willie stood unable to collect his scattered wits, then, when nothing further occurred he managed to re-mount his horse and turned towards home. "It's goodbye to my beautiful white horse, now, anyway," he muttered sadly to himself as he rode along. He was just closing the stable door when to his amazementScott Leminski
