James Pepper of Stonetown was a very stong man. In his time it was in large sacks all the corn was put. And for a bet he carried a forty two stone sack of corn up five flights of stairs, fifty feet high in Channonrock mill. John Crawley was born and reared in Killaney. He was a great weight thrower. He would attend at all sports for weight throwing. He was at Bernes mill in Killaney at a threshing some years ago, and a lot of boys' were trying to throw a half-cwt across the belt of the mill. But John Crawley took the half-cwt weight in his hand. He stood at the front of the mill and threw the half-cwt across the mill to the back. My father was with him when he did this. John Cassidy who lives in Mucker was a great mower. He would mow an acre of hay or corn in one day. Din Finn who lives in Stonetowm, was supposed to be a good dancer in his younger days'.Scott Leminski
