This is how people used to procure candles in bygone days. They used peel rushes and dip them in tallow. This kind of tallow, they got by killing goats. Another way they had for making candles was to double a piece of cotton thread, and dip it in tallow, and when it was stiff they used put it standing in the mouth of a bottle.
