Killonahan caher In the town land of Killonahan, 2 miles due west of this school on the Ballylusky by-road about 400 yds to the east of the main Croom to Limerick road stands this caher or stone fort. It’s internal diameter is 64 yards. The wall is 14nfeet thick and in places 8 feet in height, built of cobble stones on a limestone foundation. The entrance is on the north side and is 4 feet wide. It is rather featureless at present, due to the taking of the stone for road material, a cannon ball was found in the interior some years ago. This is in possession of Mr Riordan the owner of the land. The “Headless coach” passed frequently on the Ballylusky by-road. Strange sights and footsteps are often heard by people.Michelle DunnePattie Punch
