Various. From the Glen (Co. Limerick) district, I learn that Whit Monday is an unlucky day for births, whether of human or animal. The man born on Whit Monday has murderous tendencies, while the animal, horse or cow or bull, was looked upon as dangerous to life or limb, if it, unwittingly, arrived on Whit Monday. Some years ago a horse ran away on a Whit Monday, and in bolting struck and so seriously injured a man, that he died some time later from the effects of the injuries he received. An old woman who heard of the occurrence, exclaimed, "Wisha bad luck to his Whit Monday foal".
