William Leonard, who was known locally as Bill Lenane, was once in prison for three months. His work every day, was breaking stones. He was for the three months breaking one lime-stone. When the three months were up, the jailer came out to him and said, "How is it Bill, that you are so long breaking that stone?" Bill gave him the hammer and he struck the stone, and made two parts of it. The next stroke he gave it, he made dust of it. "Do you see that," said the jailer. Ah! said Bill, but I was three months softning it for you.Addie Curley
