Long ago there was situated at Curt in the parish of Abbeyfeale an old Castle, and in (Carish) this Castle lived a man by the name of Fitzgerald and his lovely wife Feale. This man was very fond of hunting, and every day he would get his horse and hounds and go hunting through the mountains. This beautiful warm day he went hunting and left Feale inside to mind the Castle. The day was very warm and fine and she decided to go for a bathe. The water was very warm and clear, and in she went for a bathe. After a while she saw some man coming on towards. She went into the deep water in order not to have the man see her, and the passed by, and he was her own husband. But as misfortune should happen she went under the water too much and was drowned. When he came home he asked the servants where was his wife, and they said she was gone for a bathe. After a couple of hours he began to get impatient and decided to go to the river to see what had happened. Away he went and when he reached the river he was terrorfied to see her dead body floating along the top of the water. He was horror-stricken and begun to call, Feale, Feale, Feale.Mark Bouck
