Lime Burning No.I When my father is burning into the kiln he puts one layer of turf into the kiln and another layer of lime stone. The first thing he does is to break the lime stone very small. When he has made a heap of the turf and lime stone together in the kiln, he lights it underneath ad leaves it there until it is well burned into ashes. Then he takes it out through the eye of the kiln and he throws it out on the field . It is said that lime makes the grass sweet.
