The most harmful weeds of this locality are Crowsfoot, Chickenweed and Catmint. These spread very rapidly and are very difficult to eradicate. Couch grass is also very harmful and it is almost impossible to get rid of it. Thistles and docks are found on good land, "Curraraun" and Ragwort on poor wet land, the latter is supposed to greatly impoverish the soil. Certain herbs have medicinal properties - The leaf of a dock is used to nettle stings, the juice of the dandelion cures warts if applied daily. Camomile tea made from camomile flowers is taken for indigestion, it is also used for bathing a swollen face.
