The Potato Crop. Potatoes are grown on our farm. We sow one rood of land under potatoes. It is the workman that prepares the land before putting the crop down in our farm. The land is not manured in any way before ploughing. At first the land is ploughed. Then it is made into ridges. If you want to sow the potatoes in drills you must harrow the land after ploughing it and then make the drills. After that the ridges or drills are manured and the slits are put in. You would find remains of some wooden ploughs about a farmer's yard but they are never used now. The spades we use are ones we buy in the shop. This is the drawing of the one we use:- [drawing of a spade]Sarah Goldberg
