There was a man a long time ago called Rodger Farrell. He lived in the county Longford. He belonged to the Fenian of 1798. One foggy evening the Yeo-men were in persuit of him and he ran from Longford to a place called Ballymoylan or Crochain. He returned again and made for a place called Kip's bush in Slatta, and as he was on his way to Kip's house where he used to meet with some of his companions, he saw a funeral coming towards him. As it was the custom in those days the people wore red clothes at a funeral, which was also the dress of the Yeo-men. Rodger thought it was an army of Yeo-men he was meeting, and he turned and ran for Tarmon Barry, and to his misfortune poor Rodger came right in face of his enemies the Yeo-men.
