The swallows nest in Europe, but goes to winter to tropical lands. About the middle of April the first swallows arrive. They come back year after year to the same places to nest. When seen flying low, are one of the signs of rain. When seen flying high are sign of good, dry weather. They fly with their mouths open and feed on the insects they meet. Swallow build their nests in farm buildings on beams up near the roof. These nests are saucer-like, made of mud, lined with grass and not done very carefully. Each female lays 5 or 6 little brown dotted white eggs. We like to see the frost swallow as they tell us Summer is comingMark Jenkins
