The Raheenduff road is called Bóthar Ciarán. It got this name in the time of Cromwell. St. Kiaran had a monastery in Waterford and another in Leix and when he was going from one monastery to the other he used travel the Raheenduff road. One day when some of St. Kiarans friars were running away from Waterford to Leix Cromwells soldiers attacked them and killed them on the road near Mary Doyle's.Scott Leminski
