Seán Moylan (Kishkeam, Boherbee, Co. Cork) the chief of the north Cork Brigade I.R.A. got information that General Holmes, the chief of the R.I.C. was to pass from Tralee to Waterford and he planned an ambush at Tureengarrive (Ballydesmond, Banteer, Co. Cork). So he called up the local I.R.A. men, and they took up position in the Tureengarrive Glen on the twenty-eight of January 1921, and when General Holmes was passing, Seán and his men shot General Holmes and his men.
