Long ago the vast majority wore no shoes =, some on Sunday. They wore them to mass and even in some cases went barefooted to mass and put on the shoes before entering the chapel. When they came out they took them off again and carried them home on their shoulders. Even yet some go barefooted but it is the older people. Children go barefooted now from 1st May all summer. Of course it depends on the weather; if better or good early in April, off they come. Only the very poor go barefooted all the year round.Mark Jenkins
