Keel is the name of a farm near the townland of Ballymcquinn in the parish of Ardfert. It got its name from a grave-yard which was situated there in olden times. The trace of this graveyard is to be seen there still. Some years ago while men were putting a pailing they discovered human bones. There is also a tradition that a pair of horses fell down through a tomb which gave way under their weight while they were ploughing the land.Bernie Hughes
