In my district the people believed a mist on the hill denotes rainy weather and that a mist over a river denotes good weather and when the sky is black over the Shannon they believe bad weather will follow. When the wind blows from the north and east they say hard weather will follow, and when it blows from the south it denotes warm weather and when it blows from the west rainy weather will follow.Nora Murphy
