Christmas long ago was kept much like it is kept at the present time. They used to decorate their houses with holly and ivy, they had not got money to buy decorations. Christmas candles were made from calico and grease. They rolled the calico between the grease, they said they were lit to show light to the world. They only bought as much tea as would do them Christmas and New Years day, only the father and mother would drink tea. On St Stephens day visits were made from one friend to another, on that day the wren boys were out, they remained away until the twelfth day they got their lodgings in the different housesV O Connor
