One time there was a large house, situated in Glenmakee, in the parish of Carndonagh, and it was supposed to be haunted by a protestant minister whose name I am unable to find. Nobody lived in the house or even approached it. One day, two young men came over from Scotland, and they wanted to rent the house for three months. The people of the district did not tell the men that the house was haunted. Soon, the house was finished and the young men prepared to stay in it. At midnight, that night a weird looking man dressed in white appeared to them in their room. The young men were terribly frightened and they began to pray, and immediately the ghost disappeared. The night succeeding, the minister again appeared, and this time he was smoking a cigarette which was rolled in brown paper. The men were frightened, and could not pray. At last one of them fainted, and his companion called to God to save them. As he uttered these words, the cigarette dropped out of the ghosts mouthShay Carberry
