Some interesting ruins in this neighbourhood. Samuel Moody, Kinnycally, St. Johnston. In the old graveyard in the village of St. Johnston, Co. Donegal, there are the ruins of an old building which was intended to be a church; but it was never completed. Sir John Steward decided that a new church should be built for the Parish of Loughboyne. He said that it out to be built in St. Johnston and he gave one hundred pounds towards the building fund. The building was started in the year 1622; that is, three hundred years ago. It was never completed because the people said they would not go to it. The ruins of a very ancient castle are to be seen at Mongavlin, about three miles from the village of St. Johnston and about five miles from the town of Strabane.
