A pot of water was left beside the fire for such time as the water would be sour. Then they put log wood in to it to colour the water and coprice so that it would not fade afterwards. Then the wool was put into it and boiled on a slow fire for a few days. Then it was squeezed well until all the water was out of it. and washed well in cold water to take any loose dye out of it.
