It seems to the casual individual who merely gives a passing thought to the old sayings and beliefs, that they are groundless and that nobody with any common sense would place any reliance on them. I believe myself that that fact may be disputed. I do not mean to say for a definite fact that we can foresee the future nor do I mean to say that we can foretell or prophesy the future. I will say that after carefully observing the different colours and condition of the sky and stars we can have a fair chance of inferring correctly what kind of weather we shall have.
