means the race of Beann, one of the sons of Connor Mac Measa,
King of Ulster, in the first
century of the Christian era.
Some of the tribe settled in
Cork, giving their name to the
town of Bantry, while others
settled in the North of Wexford,
giving their name to the
Barony of Bantry.

way or prospect, is so called
from its situation. This was
known as the Barony of(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
