   Once upon a time there lived an old man and his son in the Big Glen. They were cutting hay this day in the field beside the river. When they went to bed that night the flood rose. In the morning before the sun rose the father put up the son and told him to go down to the river, and take up the scythe that was stuck in a tree at the river. The son obeyed, and went down. He was reaching out for the scythe, and alas, his foot slipped and he was swept away. That evening his remains was got at Gort na [Hosg?].
