  1. Around this locality the most frequent time for marriages is from the Epithany to Ash Wednesday. This time especially because it is the "Ranting" season. When people were getting married long ago the groom's people would go on horseback and a procession would follow to meet the Bride's people who were coming likewise. They would then go to the church and get married. Then the procession would go into a public house and drink until night. Then the two parties would split and each (going) would go to their own dwellings. Rhymes were made about the lucky days of getting married.
