- We have a tumbler churn at home. We churn twice a week in Summer and once a week in Winter. In olden days people used to pack their butter into firkins until they would have eighty or ninety pounds of butter and carry it to the nearest market on an ass and baskets, as there were no horses or cars those days. There were pishogare done to many people in those days. Some of the people used to carry away the butter from their neighbours and sell it.
