    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    The houses of long ago were very different to the houses built now. They were flat timber houses. Some of them had felt roofs and others had roofs made of scraws. The felt roofs were made from tarred canvas. There was a hole in the middle of the roof for a chimney. The fire was in the middle of the floor, so that the smoke went straight up and out the chimney. There was only one room in the houses. There was a table in the house which was opened out at night for a bed.
