- In olden times people had not food like they have now. They had only potatoes and porridge to eat for all their meals. They only had two meals a day, one at ten o clock and the other at six o clock in the evening. When they got up they would go out and do the morning work to get an appetite. Then they would come in and have their breakfast.The breakfast was composed of potatoes, sour milk and salt.
