- Cnoc an Breac is the name of a townland near this place. It got its name from a large trout which appeared in a stream that flows through the townland. Long ago, at midnight, this fish was supposed to be seen under a bridge which crosses the stream. Many people came from far places to see this big fish, but it was seldom seen.
