- Long ago the people had no boots like we have now. They wore no boots until they were about twelve years of age. The kind of boots they had was made from the skins of animals. When dogs or cows or horses died they skinned them and made boots. They put timber soles to them. They never tanned the skins. They put the furry side into the feet. They had a piece of tin all around the sole to keep them from wearing. They also spun their own wool at that time and made their own stocking(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
