- Long ago the people wore no boots or shoes as there were no boots at that time. Some people killed goats and made boots from their skins. The poor people killed dogs as they could not afford to kill goats. Later the people wore boots with iron and timber soles. These boots were called clogs. The children were not allowed to wear boots or shoes until they were twelve or fourteen years. There are some people in the country still who never wore boots(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
