    Marriages take place on shrove there are usually many marriages on shrove Tuesday. The days thought unlucky are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the unlucky months are May and November. There is money given as a fortune. Long ago there used to be stock and goods given. About eighty years ago there were marriages held in the houses. The wedding feast is held in the bride's house.
