There was a ball-alley in Shrule once. It was built on the "Green". When the wall was put around the castle the workers got short of stones so Richard Golding ordered the alley to be knocked. There was a broom-maker also in Shrule. He lived at the top of the town. He used to pull heather and he used to go to the woods and pull broom-handles. His name was "Mórán na Sguab".
