- The people long ago ate three meals a day. They consisted of potatoes and salt. The people long ago used work in the morning before the breakfast. Meat was eaten every Sunday by people in olden times. The meat they ate was fresh meat. Turnip and cabbage were the vegetables eaten. Before they went to bed at night they used to eat porridge. When lent would come the people used to fast and when Easter would come they would eat a lot of eggs. In the middle of the eighteenth century tea came into the district.
