- There are two forts situated in the townland of Ballyhorgan. One is in the "High field" and the other is in the "Pound". There is a wood leading from one fort to the other. The fort in the "Pound" is called the "Black fort" because it is enclosed by a hedge of blackthorn trees. In the fort is a big iron flag down about a foot in the ground and a ring on the top of it. The other fort is fringed with a wall of stones. The other land is owned by Mr. Aurtor Goodman. There are many stories connected with the fort in the Pound. All the winter there was a light seen about six o'clock there by Mr Goodman's men. One night a man named Mr Sullivan Ballintocher was coming through the fort and he heard men fighting underneath the ground.
