- These weeds are harmful in any land. Nettles, dogleaves, thistles, buachallán buidhe, felistrium, rushes, sinreán, comfry, grouncil and chickenweed.
Nettles, dogleaves and rushes spread in a very short time. Where rushes and daisies grow it is the sign of poor land. Where thistles or grouncil are growing that is a sign of good land. Grouncil is used for feeding canaries. Nettles, thistles, comfry and chickenweed are used to feed pigs and sows. Chopped up nettles are used for young turkeys. Yellow root is used for poisoning fish by leaving it in lime for a day. This is the way it is used: put the root at the neck of a stream near a pool where the fish are and put stones down on the root(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
