    Travelling folk is another name for the tinkers and they visit our house very often. They take small articles with them and the people buy them. They ask alms in every house and the alms they ask are:- a few eggs, a couple of potatoes or a grain of flour. The names of the different tribes of tinkers are:- the O'Brians the Carthys and the Donovans and they usually put up at the end of the foot path in Greenville or at Coolnaleen Cross.
    They come round at big fair days and at Christmas and also at the races. They buy the tin and make the articles. They make sauspans, pannies, tin cans and gallons
